OPEN GATHERINGS
Open Gatherings is exactly that—a coming together of people who want to explore what it means to be human beings in this complex and stressful world without having to fit into a particular belief system or worry about being politically correct. What is important is the exploration of our humanity rather than opinions about what human beings are.
We start with ourselves and our interactions— relationships— with each other. This gathering is unique, our moments together are unique, and will not happen again. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to your inner world, the outer world of the rest of us, and how those different perspectives, realities even, affect each other. Is there a dynamic exchange even if non-verbal or is there interference in the transfer of energy and ideas?
Here are some points to ponder—
· Life is the teacher—life is always the teacher
· Every life, whether a single cell entity like a euglena or a multi-cell entity like a humpback whale has a finite amount of energy.
· No matter how well we think we know ourselves or even (some) others, there is always mystery at the center of us.
· Enlightenment is about consciousness. To be conscious is to be awake, aware and humble.
· The dark side grows out of unconsciousness.
· The hallmark of a mature mind is the ability to hold two conflicting thoughts at the same time.
· Life is seldom “this or that,” either/or; to conclude thusly is to find oneself “stuck.”
· ...and what shall we say about G-O-D?
These are prompts to spur your thinking and create dialogue.
Enjoy the discoveries.
